 DAC, in partnership with
Agere Systems, Inc., is offering attendees internet access from a
wireless (WiFi) network. DAC is providing a wireless access point and
Orinoco 802.11b PCMCIA Network Cards to DAC attendees and exhibitors who
want wireless internet access from their laptops. Attendees who already
have a laptop equipped with an 802.11b compatible network card may also
use the wireless access point.
Participation is simple! If you donšt have an WiFi network card you may
get a loaner card from DAC on the 2nd floor of the Ernest N. Morial
Convention Center in the Auditorium Lobby. There is no cost to
participate, however, DAC will charge to your credit card a deposit of
$50 per network card. If you return the card by Friday, June 14, at
3:00pm DAC will refund your deposit. If you choose not to return the
card, DAC will retain your $50 deposit and you keep the card.
Laptops running Windows 2000 typically get up and running quickly by
simply inserting the Orinoco card into your PCMCIA slot. If you donšt
have Windows 2000 on your laptop, the Orinoco drivers will need to be
installed on your laptop.
DAC will provide you with the drivers, and basic instructions. In most
cases the drivers will load correctly and you will be on your way to the
internet, however, DAC assumes no responsibility for driver installation
and configuration on your laptop. |
