The Internet of Things (IoT) combined with advanced data analytics like deep neural networks is poised to revolutionize the world. By creating smart things connected to each other and the internet, we can enable endless applications that improve our lives. To achieve this vision, we must address the resource and communication constraints of many of the devices along the edge. This includes new techniques to leverage the advances in sparse neural networks at the edge, intelligently utilizing the compute resources across the IoT hierarchy, and collaborative inference and learning techniques among edge devices. In this special session, we bring three research groups from academia and industry to address these problems and provide a holistic view of neural network computing for training and inference from the edge to the cloud.
